My tortoise only eats romaine

Hi there,
I’ve had my Russian tortoise over three weeks now and all he wants to eat is romaine and dandelions. We tried the grassland tortoise diet but he seems to avoid eating it even when placed on the romaine. Is it better for us to not give him any at all for a week so that he will be so hungry he will eat the other variety to get him into a routine?

Try blending everything together so that he can’t pick it out. He might not eat for the first couple days, but tortoises won’t starve themselves. You can also mush the grassland tortoise diet in with the romaine.
