I have a baby red footed tortoise and he has some problems that I need some advice for...
•shell rot
Levi's stomach has some dots on it that I think is shell rot, I got some better substrate but I don't know what else I should do for it ImageUploadedByTortForum1375746573.910868.jpg
•heating
He has a heat lamp and we are working on getting the UVB bulb so we take him outside for a couple hours. His side of the hut that has his house is cold because of the placing of the heat so I moved it closer to the light so that he can sleep and be warm until we get the rest of his heating, should we get a heating pad?ImageUploadedByTortForum1375746664.932628.jpg
•cleaning
I try to clean out his cage but I'm not sure how often because I don't see poop in his cage, the only time I've ever seen him poop is when he is outside in the grass.
•humidity
His humidity is usually around the sixty's an I keep on trying to spray his enclosure a lot to keep it humid but that doesn't seem to be helping... ImageUploadedByTortForum1375746841.266796.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1375746878.183289.jpg

Heating - I'd suggest a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) on a thermostat. It will help maintain temps during the day (or be off, if the heat bulb doesn't need help), and keep things warm at night without any light.

Humidity - you need to cover the top so the humidity can build up rather than escape. After you do that, you can add something waterproof at the bottom of the enclosure and pour water in the corners of the tank. This will make the under layers wet, but keep the top layer dry, which is important if you are struggling with shell rot.

Shell rot - I can't help there, but a clearer picture will help whoever can.

Cleaning - most people just spot clean unless there is an issue (unwanted bugs, mold, etc)

The pic of what you think is shell rot is not clear. Try posting another one. RF are more prone to shell rot then some other high humidity torts. To help prevent this, moisten the bottom layers of substrate so the top stays fairly dry. You can do this by poring water into the corners of the enclosure so it flows down to the bottom. Also, humidity is water and heat, not water and cold. Moist and cold makes for a sick tort. Be sure temps are up where they are suppose to be. With dry top layer, you can still spray your tort a few times a day, but the top substrate won't be soaked.
