I've recently noticed that the rear 1/3 of his shell is curling up slightly and seems a little frayed. No idea if this is okay or a sign of something being wrong so I was hoping someone had an idea. Also, very paranoid about pyramiding and included a photo, seems to me that maybe it's starting :( it frightens me that I'm doing something wrong. he's ~6 months for reference.

Any help is massively appreciated!

I'm not a redfoot aficionado, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. The shell looks fine to me.

The rear marginals of young red-footed tortoises flare out and are jagged. This is thought to help with camouflage as well as making them harder to swallow by some predators.

There looks like there may be a little 'raising' (very mild pyramiding) going on. Not a big deal as long as you are working to offer the right conditions.
