Redfoot tortoise health

my redfoot's plastron has brown crud all over it, but its dry and when it falls off its white. im not sure what you think it is if you want picks i can post them! i bought it from petco last week and i have a 15day health guarantee. what is your opinion. should i tell them i think he has somthing wrong with the plastron and have him out check them out. its a free veterinary care if needed within the first 15days if needed or somthing like that! its a 3-4 inch female i think she is about 1year or so old. i bought it for $117 and thats with tax.

It sounds like a form of shell rot (https://sites.google.com/site/tortoiselibrary/basic-medical-care/shell-rot ) but as long as they can look at it free, it may well be worth the visit.
