I am thinking of planting a young rose of Sharon in my yard, to feed the flowers and leaves to my Russian tortoise, maybe sometime in the spring next year, but I'm a bit worried it won't live in the strong heat of las Vegas's summers. I know this isn't like a gardening forum but does anyone know if a rose of Sharon will survive in the almost full sun in the 110+ degree heat summers of las Vegas or have had success doing so?

A tropical hibiscus may do better. I live in Chicago and rose of Sharon grow very easy here. We don't have that hot of summer temps and we can have very cold winter temps. But it wouldn't hurt to try either.
