I have my ornate in the ground coconut husk of whatever it's called. So far it's been fabulous for holding moisture and being odor free, but but I'm curious as to how often it should be changed? And is it necessary to mix it with organic soil?

I had the same question and was told that you do not have to change it that often. I used mine for almost a yer in the baby cage, but they were soaked daily and did their business in the bath. For my Juveniles I change it about once every three months although I'm told that is more than needed. I mix mine because it is cheaper to do so and seems to have a better texture for burrowing. I also put a layer of leaf litter or cypress mulch on top.
