Hi friends, I’m new to the forum. I was recently gifted a baby African Sulcata which I found all these threads helpful and will post about my new friend later however this post is about a little creature that has found his way into my friends back yard. I’m trying to identify him so we can maybe feed him or help him in anyway. Thank you in advance!

It looks like a desert tortoise, but if it is, it's in TX probably illegally.

The Texas tortoise is native to TX and looks very similar.

I vote for TX tortoise. But I could easily be wrong.

But if I'm right, it is probably illegal to take them from the wild.

The only way to help him would be to give him some greens. But make sure the greens and your hands have had no contact with
captive torts. That's how wild populations get infected with diseases, and it's devastating.
