CONGRATULATIONS!
Momof4 said:I'm getting closer to being a tortoise "mom!" Long story, but my husband was telling the kids that I wanted a huge tortoise! I was like "no it's really small." He said "how big is the adult?" and I said " About this big (dinner plate size.)
Oh he said " I thought you wanted one of those monsters you showed me.
I'm so excited. Now I just need to start gathering and putting together a big rubbermaid for a new little guy or two
Now that the kids are back in school I can shop alone and think straight.
I also can't wait to build an outdoor enclosure. There are so many options my head is spinning.
Is it getting late in the season to get a red foot hatchling? Or are they readily available all year?

I think people sell them at various ages throughout the year, shipping conditions and temps mostly limit when you can get them.
However, are there any Redfoots that need rescuing, which would be awfully nice? With theses torts, you can always consider having more than one, lol. Also, it is easier to start out with a bit older tort, hatchlings can be difficult for a new owner, I believe. How fun for you, now you have to look at all the enclosure ideas, what torture,![]()
