I have just made my first tortoise table and am wondering whether i used the right kind of wood i made it using MDF wood?

You will probably want to seal this. I believe, not positive, that this will swell badly if it gets damp. It is only fiberboard. Or line in with rubber roofing.

defiantely want to coat the wood with some Low VOC sealant
preferably water based or 100% solids not solvent based

i suggest 100% solids polyurethanes.. low VOC's , fast cure time and little to no aromatic scents
