I have two Florida Soft Shell hatchlings that I rescued from REALLY nasty conditions. Their previous owner had them in a 5gallon sewage box (fish tank) and hadn't changed the water in over a year. She was feeding them "turtle sticks" once a week.
When I got them home about a week and a half ago their shells were kind of flat, their necks were really thin, and they were a kind of slate gray color all over. I put them on a live foods diet. Now their shells are getting this dome shape to them, their necks are getting thicker, and their colors have become bright and vibrant. They have 24/7 access to small prey fish and freshwater shrimp. I also give them different kinds of worms to eat. Am I feeding them too much? They are honestly starting to look fat to me but being as inexperienced as I am I'm not sure. They always eat everything I give them like they are starving to death.
