Thanks! And I bought "snake bedding" for him, because a worker at the pet store told me it keeps her tortoises warm. That's what's in there now, that might be false though.

Are we talking dents? or bumps?
and my sulcata loves st. augustine grass.
Dents, they're really small but they're just on his one side and I didn't notice them until now.. And good!! I'll have to try it!

Yeah I've noticed, there was also no water bowl in the habitat he was in before I bought him.

Do you mean towards the bottom of the shell? And it kind of bends up?

Up until I got the sulcata; this was also my Russian's enclosure. I have been keeping my russian outside in a little fenced in area made for him because there's leaves and a shady/sunny spot, I will be getting him one soon though because he will be hibernating soon.

Dents are sort of common on young tortoises, they tend to smooth out in time, pliable shell and all of that.
Good!! Just making sure it wasn't serious. What is the growth rate of these tortoises?

The growth rate varies. In the search area, type in growth rates of sulcata. I know some that have a sulcata that are 5-10 pounds heavier than mine, or lower than mine. My Sulcata will be 3 in March.
