UPDATE: Hey guys, know it's been a while since I last posted but just thought you ought to know claude is doing great! We got him a new enclosure and he loves it, I gave him a change of diet and he's alot healthier then he was before!
Yes, if its not too harsh or cold I let him have a roam around the garden, I also have an outdoor enclosure for him now which he likes to sun bathe in during hot days. I like to make sure claude gets as much nature as he can (completely 100% supervised of course)
Ah, great! The sun in UK doesn't offer much UVB (check UV Index in the weather forecast), so he might need Calcium + D3 supplement once a week and a UVB lamp if you don't brumate him (a good T5 tube will last for years when being used for several hours a day in winter and early spring/late fall).
And I don't want to be a nuisance but a thin layer of pellets is not a good substrate. Fine grade orchid bark or coco peat (coconut coir) are better options.
