Started giving liquid calcium with oral syringe.
Lol okay. Yeah Pinky had a rough time for a bit. He ended up passing a stone a year later. His back legs are sooo much better but he still doesn't walk straight up with his MBD. He's a fighter though.
I saw the photos, and the progress is visible. Well done! The thing with turtles, everything happens slowly is that damadge or recovery, it takes time. Glad the stone is out! Speaking of walking, one of mine - Buttons. She is the most underweight of the bunch, has pyramiding and deformity on the plastron, a dangling toe, and she mildly shuffles when she walks. I dont know if her gait will ever even out, or that's just a perk of her uniqueness. It took almost 2 years for her to walk (fast shuffle lol) as she does now, she is active and happy, and with a shine in her eyes.

Oh my goodness! Sweet baby girl! Yes the shuffle that's what I like to call it I forgot that word it's definitely a shuffle. And that shine in their eyes, you can definitely see when a tortoise is healthy! Isn't it wonderful seeing all the improvement and knowing that what you're doing is right!? Nice work tort Mum!!! 💕

Thank you. The greatest reward is seeing them safe, happy, and thriving! Speaking of shuffle... here is one of my favorites:

Lol that's awesome I love how upbeat it is. I had to subscribe 😁
Nice! Parov Stellar makes good music! Speaking of music... Despite Tortoises not having external ears, and not responding to vocals as much as we humans like lol I noticed that when I played Drum & Bass Mix most freaked out. Have not played since. But I play classical and smooth jazz every day for animals and plants.

OMG yes! Well one of my Sulcata's Donnie, he gets extremely frantic when my husband plays the drums. Sometimes he has other people over to play other instruments but yeah he will play the drums and Donnie is just all over the place running around trying to get away. I make sure all the animals are as far away from the house as possible when he plays. Isn't that funny!

How peculiar! Thank you for sharing. Do you think it's because it seemed like it was thundering or an earthquake to Donnie? Sometimes, my youngest - Lil Lily, out of the blue, would be spooked and dash from one place to another in a frenzy for shelter (we have a road nearby and lots of Harleys at times, I think those strong vibrations got to her, or an Earthquake in CA for all I know lol). I would really love to talk about this more in detail because I am working on a communication model where I am testing low sound and vibrational frequencies tortoises respond to - it has to be below 2000 Hz. I even bought 2 types of African tribal drums, but the pitch was wrong. So far, footstep codes work the best.

Yes it's like he's is running away for shelter. Next door has a motorcycle that is loud. Not a Harley but it's loud. I'll have to look at his reaction but I don't think that one affects him. I'll have to check the bass vs drums over here. Drums for sure!
Wow you are going all in, that's really exciting!

That would be great if you could monitor that. Loud is one thing, but the low rumble seems to be more impactful. It is exciting for sure, lots of trial and error, and 9 mostly willing participants lol I think it would be awesome to crack the tortoise hearing code and be able to communicate with them more effectively. I believe everyone has a language, and only because tortoises haven't been studied for it doesn't mean it's not there. Just look at how far we have come in the past few decades in dog language, behavior, and training. The days of turtles being just a pet rock are gone. Onward!

Okay I sure will! I mean I feel like that can hear me because I will call Donnies name and he comes. Maybe he here's my footsteps though. I'm going to have to pay attention to that. I'm always talking to them. Probably just talking to myself as usual 🤣. I will participate just let me know if you need something specific!
