Thanks. Yeah, I'm just above Gettysburg PA and it was pretty good weather today so we went out and I worked from home. 1st hatchday at the beginning of March. Should be almost or about 4lbs @ the 1 year mark which is ridiculous. Was 1506 grams on Tuesday evening and today 1589? 83g in 3 days? Doesn't fit in the sink anymore for a soak. It gets the tub upstairs while I can still carry him/her.
My Sammy is still 59lbs, hasn't gain much weight this winter. Sammy is getting to big for the tub and my back can't handle him much more. They grow up so fast when you do things right. My Sammy was only 2 pounds at 1 yr. Old. Your going to have a big boy, just as I will. Keep up the good work
I was kind of taking cues from your Sammy on keeping the shell clean, using a toothbrush at the end of the soak, etc. especially if you're having it indoors at all. The photo of your feet for scale and that ginormous tortoise is cool. I'm curious when the growth rings will lighten. Did yours look the same or was it lighter in color in general?
No. Seems that when eating right, exercise and kept humid, it keeps pretty similar growth percentage. Growth was up and down within 4% per week including spurts but if yours is 205g it's on the way to the 1lb. (454g) mark in about 2 months. Stump was 209g on July 19th (about 7 months ago) so in 7 months or so you're looking at a potential 3.75 - 4lb tortoise 8" long, 5 1/4 wide and 4 1/2" tall. Your tort need the most space you can possibly dedicate to it.
By late August or early September 2023, Stump looks on track to be adding 1/2lb to 1lb PER WEEK!!!! 13lbs - 14lbs in one week. Imagine how much grass that thing will have to eat.
This past week 2/7 - 2/14, Stump put on exactly 100g or about half the weight of your tortoise... in 1 week. Still goes outside in the winter (today was sunny in the 50's) and ate a bunch of stuff.
