OK, If you can make sure the reason is over feeding, that is the best news! Hikari is a good brand for feeding water trutles, I am using it now. No salt in it, but sometimes take care of feeding Dried shrimp, some of them contain salt ,which is dangerous to water trutles!
Seems as my mud trutle,did u have feed them seafood or dried shrimp(maybe contain salt ),the salt will be the reason of plump, the salt is Poison for water trutle,because they cannot metabolized it. Good luck!

My RES will envy your RES living environment, no courtyard in my apartment,so I only have to using a not very big aquariums to feeding them, but I will try to give them a good fliter and keep the water quality suitble for them.
Sure,I agree with ur opinion,this pond is so small for a RES,I will try to find a pond big enough for them,how about 60*40 or 120*40 ? Now I take a stone for them to get out water,and move them to Balcony in my apartment,Thanks a lot!
