Hi everyone. I would like to adopt out my male Russian tortoise, Urkel. He was given to us several years ago by someone in the family. In the last few months I've realized, as I have been researching to better his care, and weighing that with my commitments, that I can no longer take care of him...

I know that this was thread was from several years ago so I wanted to ask if Lowes still sells that orchid bark? I am looking it up online and it isn't coming up. This brand you are talking about is ALOT cheaper than what I may have to get...

Okay! To lose the confusion I just changed out my profile pic to a pretty picture of Urkel. Much better!

Huh. I wonder what pine shavings could even be used for if it is toxic for animals. Maybe there is some other purpose for it.

Good to know. Thank you! Question out of curiosity... you may not know the answer to this because it is more on animals in general. Would you say that pine would also not be wise to use for small mammals or chickens? Would it be toxic for them as well?
