I’m in the UK so no raccoons, would a rat do something like this? There is some damage to the underside of the shell, like some of it is missing? She was in a secured run outside with chicken wire over the top, so this is really confusing. Never letting a tortoise out alone in the garden again...
Found my tortoise eaten by something in the garden today, nothing left, just a shell. Some of its shell was missing under. Devastated, what can this be?
They have a very very large area outside and hardly spend any time together. It’s also sections in their enclosure. It is covered over with chicken wire so birds can’t get to the smaller one.
They eat mostly weeds I collect outside and eat a lot. I do give them food in different areas so I...
Hi, I have two marginated tortoises, one that is growing really well and one that do not seem to be gaining any weight at all. It eats well and poops regularly, but just don’t seem to gain anything.
How heavy should he/she be now? Looking at my older one I am thinking he/she should be at least...
Just wondering. Is she doing this because it annoys her or is she enjoying it?🤔
When I stroke her back (did try to upload video! She stretches her neck and sway her head for side to side.
Thank you. She did have a long soak this morning and it was not full sun outside were she was. Gave her some food (rinsed it so water on that too) she ate it but does look a bit confused. Will keep an eye on her and continue giving her baths.
Hi.
Just found my tortoise on her back outside and don’t know how long she has been like this. She was when I got out not trying to flip herself back over and don’t know if she tried this before.
Is there anything I should look out for now in the hours after she was upside down?
Here is some photos I had on my phone. Not all of it. It’s also just been a few months so not perfect yet (and now changing everything anyway) still learning what plants are ok and so on and have been a bit scared of what to put in. Hopefully it will get easier now that we know what we have at...
Well after figuring out we don’t have a western hermann like we were told and reading the care sheet I now need to do some changes to the outdoor area. It is too grassy at the moment And we will need to make it bigger I think. At the moment it’s 3 meter long and 1 meter wide.
The tortoise is...
Thank you, we do give her a soak every day. She just moved here e few months ago and when she got her is did not lift up on her back legs and was very slow and lethargic. The pyramiding I think has stopped but will not go away I heard. She is now very active, curious and social😊
