    Humidity help

Thanks! Would covering the open part with plexiglass mess with the lighting/heat? The enclosure isn't deep enough to put the lamps down in it. Or would I be better off looking for/building a different enclosure that's closed, but the lamps fit down in?

    Humidity help

Hey everyone! I have a baby hermann, Sherman, and i feel like I've tried everything to keep the humidity up in his enclosure. The enclosure is partially closed, a little over half of it is open. Substrate is a little over 2" thick. I was using coconut coir as substrate, but heard cypress mulch...

Mazuri Tortoise Diet, veggies, and Zoo Med Natural Grassland food

I'm new to tortoise owning and a bit confused. I've been feeding my hermann organic spring mix (endive, romaine, chard, radicchio) because dandelions/weeds are getting hard to find now that it's getting cold. I've also been giving him 1 Zoo Med Natural Grassland food a week (because it takes...

What is everyone's opinion on humidifiers?

Thank you for replying! Right now I'm using coconut coir (I was going to use Orchid bark, but was having issues finding it). I have it 3-4 inches deep. I've only had the little guy about a week and I'm worried about over-wetting the substrate, but after each spray it will stay around 70% for a...

What is everyone's opinion on humidifiers?

Hi all! I spray my baby Herman's enclosure twice a day to keep the humidity up (I read a couple places it should be 70%), but it always seems to fall back down to 60-62%. I came here for advice before I jumped into buying anything. Should I just keep spraying it twice? Or would you recommend...

    Some questions about food

Oh I definitely take your word for it. That's why I come here, I've always gotten solid advice here and have learned to trust what I'm told from experienced owners. After reading the link you posted and doing some research, I'm definitely switching away from soil (there's some horror stories out...

    Some questions about food

Thank you so much for your reply! See this is another example of conflicting information lol. I was told that top soil was one of the best to use as long as it was organic and had no additives like fertilizer/perlite (like basically dirt you would just dig up out of the yard). I will reassess...

    Some questions about food

I have a 1-2 month old Hermann tortoise and was wondering what foods I should be feeding it and how much? I keep seeing different answers, some say to feed tortoise pellets, some say never do it. Some say carrots are okay and some don't. And is there any plants I could put in there for him to...

Some questions about Russian Tortoise enclosure

Oh wow, I had no idea. I'm glad I asked before I bought them. I just always worry that something will get lonely. :/ Thank you for the link/information also so I didn't waste $100 on an unsuitable enclosure.

Some questions about Russian Tortoise enclosure

Hello everyone! :) I may be getting 2 male Russian tortoises (they say they're 4-6 years old/4 inches. I'm wondering if this is big enough to house 2 juveniles, or would I need to actually buy 2 of them...
