Hi, I’m not sure how she burrowed last winter with the former owner of the house.

Can I keep a box turtle in an enclosed chicken coup this winter with a heating lamp? I worry rats will eat her if she has free range to burrow.

Thank you for your insight. I would like to allow DonnaTella to hibernate outside in order to be as least restrictive and intrusive to her natural-needs as possible. It’s so hard not to worry about her though.

Hello, I was hoping to identify what kind of tortoise this is? We recently moved into a home in Southern New Mexico that came with a very friendly tortoise. We feed her greens and fill up her water. She seems very happy and comes out to see us when we go outside.
