I’m going to be taking my torts to a Reptile education day. I know there will be lots of questions and interest in having a sulcata as a pet. I don’t want to discourage people but also don’t want to encourage people to get in over their heads.
Anyone have any info graph fact sheets or fun FAQ...
After talking to my son (12), it seems like he only does it to me. Both my son and I walked into his pen, and Dino followed me around, not my son. I am sure he could ram much harder into my shins than he does- but he definitely goes after me. I will try to get a video of it. Could it just be for...
Hello all!
I searched quite a few posts but didn't find my answer, apologies in advance if this topic is overdone.
Almost 3-year-old male Sulcata is getting grouchy with us. He rams into my shins and ankles when I am in his enclosure cleaning or changing water. Head tucked and barrels forward...
All 3 torts are less than 2 years old. Can we tell what sex they are now?
I think Dino (pic 1) is now big enough to sex. She (I think) is only about 1.5 years old but 7 pounds at least and about 10 inches long, 8 wide.
Apollo (pic 2) is slightly smaller. She?

Thank you so much! Yes, we started incorporating orchard hay into their diets. We get it wet and mix it in with their other foods. We tried timothy hay but it was too tough. Thankfully we have plenty of weeds and fresh grasses in out own yard.

Hello,
The FretTortyTorts are just over 1 year old now.
Apollo and Dino are just over 3 pounds. Tank is just over 2 pounds.

Thanks! She actually did move the scale this week. Up 3 grams to 63 grams. It's not huge, but at least it's something. We have noticed improved energy levels for sure.
Thanks. We have definitely started following the guide to a T. Wish we had found it sooner! Lots of bad info out there. ?
Yes she is definitely 1.5 years at LEAST. My family member got her in February or March of 2019. And then they started traveling too much and gave her to us.
Do you know...
We were given a sulcata. She is about 1.5 years old. She is not growing.
I don’t think she was kept under the best conditions before we got her and we were given some bad advice to start. We made the corrections needed based on info here. (Lots more soaking, very humid enclosure, grasses...
Sorry I’m sure this has been asked before. I swear I tried to search ?
I have 2 hygrometers. Where should I place them? I get wildly different measurements depending on placement. Middle of wall, 67% and closure to substrate floor, 97%. As close to closed chamber I could make with examples...
