Exactly the same happened to me! Trusted the shop to inform me correctly and they didn't! Oh well, now I know and have ordered alternative substrate now:-)

I just soaked him for half an hour in warm water, and he done the hugest poop! So proud! Haha. I check the temps every day and they are as they should be, I'm using soil and pellets for substrate at the moment, it's a temporary thing until I get him a tortoise table. I might start soaking him...
