i found a guy, he said that until around may, he keeps the russians and the THB seperated, and after that, he puts the females together, and puts the male in solitary.
Hello guys,
I have 3 THB and 1 russian living toghether. I know that you all said earlier it wasnt smart to do it. Now, because i know that i have 1 male THB and my russian is female, my parents allowed me to not put them together anymore. I do have some questions:
Should i put my male alone...
yes she is thb. the picture is her. to describe what she was doing: walking around the edges (sometimes 10 minutes back and forth on one 3 m wall) looking like she was looking for something or if she was trying to escape. no. she hasn't switched enclosures recently.
i don't really have substrate for them to dig in. that's also why I asked, I have some sand lying around though, so I can make a place to dig. I can't upload a video here.
I think my 8 yr old thb is gravid. she was gaining weight rapidly too. today she is walking around my enclosure. she is walking back and forth and you can see she is looking. I think she is gravid. what do y'all think?
I know this is old but still.
I got to agree with this. I got my first tortoises (THB) as a present for my 9th birthday. I am 16 now. reflecting on when I was younger, I do not think young kids should keep tortoises. for the first few years my mother did most of the work because I was so young...
