About eight years ago, I adopted a female sulcata who was estimated to be around four years old. The people who surrendered her kept her in a terrarium on a bad diet and she had to relearn how to use her hind limbs. She was also severely pyramided, and often tried to eat rocks because she didn't understand what was actually food. I had her for around a year and a half before she passed away due to some long term effects from her history. I took time between tortoises for things like mournings, college, and more, but I am finally ready to own a tortoise again.
