Hi Yvonne.
Thank you for your response. I will buy some carrot baby food in the morning & try that. It’s not a problem to set him up indoors for a while so I’ll also try that.
I have tried giving him food that he likes, he still won’t eat. At one point I was mashing up banana with some water &...
I soak him every other day for about twenty minutes.
Sun room is between 25-30, night box overnight low 15.
Although this Tortoise has been a garden tortoise he has had a poor diet of banana, green beans, lettuce, cucumber & not a lot else. He has also had no calcium supplement.
Although I’m...
Hi Tom.
Thanks for your reply.
Both tortoises live outside in a secure garden. Garden is divided in half so they don’t mix. Insulated night box, sun room with lumisol which heats up when the sun is on it, heat lamp for cold days.

Hi.
I’m fostering a Herman’s Tortoise for a friend whilst she’s looking for a new house. He’s hardly eating & is wobbling & banging his shell on the ground. She’ll isn’t soft but I’m concerned he could have MBD.
I have a Mesopotamia tortoise kept in the same conditions & he is fine.
They are not...
Hi Jamie. Thanks for your response. That looks good. I need to buy one soon so I can monitor temps for a while. I have Tortoises hibernation records from 1987 & he’s usually gone late November early December time. I’ll ensure to put water bottles in the free space. Do you guys put your Tortoises...
Thanks Tom. I’m struggling to find a drinks fridge big enough & most don’t have removable shelves therefore making the space even smaller. A larder style fridge should be okay then if I use a temp controller as Blackdog suggested. Thank you.
Hi, after much deliberation I think I have decided to fridge hibernate Ron this year. Could anyone please help with what type of fridge I would need? Conflicting advice as per, I was originally advised a larder style fridge without an icebox, then told they can freeze on the back panel. Wine...
Brought some Mazuri last week from eBay after reading about it this forum. Unsure what kind as it didn’t say. My Mesopotamia tortoise seems to like it but prefers it in a pile on its own. The cat, who is a bit of a weirdo also seems to like it. I don’t think it would actually be good for a cat...
Hi Erin.
I also live in Leicestershire, I take my tortoise to a reptile vet in Silaby. The practice is called Chine House & the vet is called Craig. He’s very knowledgable & keeps Tortoises himself.
Thanks for your response. Yeah, looking at images of the Mesopotamia he does look like quite a few of those. He isn’t huge, 21cm and is around 62 years old so fully grown.
