Thank you. I've heard that you can use standard Neosporin (without pain relief) on reptiles.
My vet said you can also use betadine, though I don't have any at the moment.
Hi all, just an update for anyone reading this in the future:
Gimli stopped biting himself after 1 day. I searched for a long time, and could not find mites, ants, or anything else on him. I gave him a long soak to make sure he was clean. The scratch on his nose healed up. So basically, nothing...
Definitely going to give him a soak and see if anything changes. So far, he hasn't been chewing on his leg anymore.
Outdoor temps have been around 60 - 80F. His shed is heated. Average humidity outside is around 70%. He has coco coir, sand, wood chips and grass in his yard. Maybe an ant or...
Hi all,
Yesterday, I was checking my enclosure cameras and caught my sulcata biting his own leg for a few minutes. Upon getting home, I checked on him and noticed he ended up scratching his own nose on his arm spikes and there was dried blood on his face.
The leg biting is definitely strange...
Thank you so much, @Tom ! I need to build him a bigger shelter anyway, so your tutorials are very helpful. I'll work on building a better outdoor heated space for him and buying one of those Kane heat mats. The coldest it got here was about 50F.
Question: Can you please explain why we don't put...
Our sulcata is about three or four years old and 14 pounds.
We brought him inside for the winter where it’s around 80° with our indoor makeshift basking set up. There has been a day or two where he hasn’t eaten anything and I’m wondering if that’s normal. He has been sleeping a lot more. I know...
Hi there. While I can cover up some of the sand, sulcatas live outdoors. We live in Florida. Sand is always going to exist and it’s more of an impaction risk if that is the majority of what they live and eat on. I was more wondering about the other things.
Hi all, I’m not trying to be funny here, I am legit wondering if I should be concerned!
My 3yo sulcata is in this phase where he is extending his penis all the way out, releasing some liquid, and then pulling it back in - with a bunch of sand and dirt stuck to it. Can this give him an infection...
Thanks. I’ll continue picking them up when I can, but now I know it’s not an emergency if he eats one here and there. Since it’s a fruit, I know it’s not great for their diet.
In the long-term, I wonder if we can offer to prune off the berry-producing fronds of the tree. The neighbor doesn’t...
Hello there,
Our neighbor has a palm tree growing along our fence line that drops dozens of these orange berries around this time of year. While palm trees are a confusing group of plants to identify (there are so many species that look similar!), I believe these are Queen palm berries.
They...
I think it might be poop, but I am not sure…
It’s really hard to clean it - he doesn’t like me touching his face very much. I haven’t seen it this black before, but it’s possible I just didn’t notice it.
Aside from his normal diet, he also eats collard greens, kale, and lettuce (on hot days)...
Hello, there is some black coloration on my sulcata’s tongue and I am wondering if it is cause for concern. Could this be mouth rot? Please see the photos attached.
** The slime is from the cactus, his mouth is NOT normally slimy **
Age: 3 1/2 years old
Location: Florida. Lives in an outdoor...
