I have powder blue isopods and springtails in my enclosure. They hang out under the water dish. I will occasionally put some of the scrap greens under there when the population is getting low and within a couple of weeks they will increase again. They really need dampness to do well. When I...
So I got tired of experimenting with different UVB LEDs and decided to just find a way to use my 24” ZooMed T5 lighting instead.
I had the idea to use this clamp and had it in my cart since September but kept putting it off. Finally bought it last night. Arrived this morning and also put in a...
I have springtails and powder blue isopods in mine. I have to keep adding springtails from my cultures every couple of weeks or so cause they tend to not multiply as much as my isopods. Maybe the isopods do such a good job at cleaning that they don’t leave enough rotting matter for the...
Unfortunately misinformation spreads a whole lot quicker and wider on FB than on forums.
This forum may educate 10 people a day and FB miseducates 100 a day!
It’s the admins there that are spreading false information unfortunately with their padlet slides. And the members believe it as gospel and then repeat it to all the new folks.
My posts have gotten deleted or not approved when I comment on substrate or UVB.
They hate the top two recommended substrate and keep promoting topsoil and moss.
Okay here’s another scenario then, I know that the screw in CFL UVB are not recommended because some of them are too intense and can hurt the eyes.
What if I were to use them in 3 different spots of the enclosure for 2 hours at a time alternating between them?
Are there certain brands of those...
Are you referring to this: https://www.reptilesrus.ca/arcadia-solar-basking-floodlight-50w/
I have a 75w version but no real mention of UVB though!
Another thing to note is that I'm not creating a canopy otherwise the T5 would work.
The enclosure is nothing special at the moment. Just a 2x4. He...
I guess what I am trying to do is create smaller areas of "sunlight" in different areas of the enclosure. Rather than a wider spread of light with the T5 style kits.
Just trying to be creative and have UVB bulbs as the light source instead of just ambient lighting.
Horsefield but I want to try the screw in ones in a couple of areas in my enclosure.
There are a couple on Amazon which I may try if someone has positive experiences with them.

Can you kind folks recommend some screw in UVB LED bulbs that are acceptable?
Not looking for the hood kind which I already own. Just looking for the E26/27 type and preferably something available in Canada or on Amazon.
Thank you kindly!
