One of my russian tortoise eggs hatched on Christmas! She (i think, due to incubation temps I set) is doing great:)
She has been out 24 hours and her belly button is healed up. It was healed by this am, so I gave her a soak and put her back into the incubator. She ate a few bites of mixed...
my incubator went on the fritz. it dropped for 5 or so hours to 78 then 73for about 20 minutes while i tried to fix it.
i had had it at 89 for my russian tortoise eggs, got it to go to about 87. am buying new incubator this morning, but is it too late for my eggs? they are 5 weeks along
i thought the tail looks small, the plasteron flat, but the v pronounced:/ i am adopting it from a rescue in washington. i don't really mind either way, but i want to have happy ratios:) i'm not out to breed them.
oh my goodness, i love all animals. i have several types.
people are the problem, people need to be responsible for their animals and not subject others to them. spay/neuter, train, contain, clean...there is a lot of work involved.
of all my animals, my torts are the best. we joke they are like...
she bred with my male this summer, august. egg is not soft, feels like a chicken egg, no dents. the white pattern has not changed from yesterday, i just did a photo comparison.
apparently, she lived with a male before i got her as well. she's kind of a rescue.
