One of my russian tortoise eggs hatched on Christmas! She (i think, due to incubation temps I set) is doing great:)
She has been out 24 hours and her belly button is healed up. It was healed by this am, so I gave her a soak and put her back into the incubator. She ate a few bites of mixed greens. Waiting on her sibling to hatch, fingers crossed. I set up her habitat following Garden State Tortoise baby guidelines.
Question, What to do for nighttime temps? Chris did not mention that part:/ The UVB bulb and basking bulb are set up, but I don't want to leave the lights on all night for warmth. My house drops to 66 at night. Is that ok? Or do I pop in a CHE?
Thank you:)

Following Chris care will get you a pyramided tortoise as he usually doesn't use the closed chamber enclosure with 80% humidity.

Congrats!

Start here:

When its time for an enclosure, look at the thread in post number 3, and more here too:

For the first few weeks I'd keep night temps in the 70s. After that, dropping into the 60s at night should be fine as long as the heating and lighting during the day are set up the right way, which is all outlined in the threads.

You need a brooder box set up for at least 7-10 days.
