I believe my dude got this from exiting his house (since which I have fixed to make smooth).
Should I put some hoof repair on it or anything? Or just keep an eye on it and let it heal itself?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much Tom! I was worried I still needed to lock him up at night, but makes sense to let him burrow during those months instead!
And it’s okay that he isn’t as big as your fellows yet, he should still be fine?
So sweet Tort is enjoying his cave / burrow that I made for him, but has taken upon himself to continue digging. We put him up in his night box at night to ensure his safety, but it’s becoming increasingly harder to lure him out of the burrow and into his box. Any suggestions?
Enlisted my father’s help, and he built this amazing insulated night box for Tort!! Just gotta run all the electric stuff and attach the door, and then he’ll be a full-time outdoor boy!!
Has anyone used a plastic deck box for an indoor enclosure? I know people convert deck boxes for heated homes for outdoors. Tort will transition full time outside this summer (he is about 8” right now), so I am just wanted to give him more space inside until then.
He is been in a closed...

This little “dude” is about 4 months old, getting two soaks a day, has a humid hide, and keeping humidity at least at 60%, temp doesn’t drop below 80 degrees (on thermostat) + uvb basking spot around 100 degrees. We live in Texas so on sunny days he gets some real rays. He has a good appetite -...
