    Junie Moon has stopped eating

Thank you all. It looked like walking brumation, if there is such a thing. She came out of her stupor a month and a half ago with a full appetite. She's been more mobile and certainly more engaged in her environment. Thank you. I know it was a long time getting back to you.

I'm sorry, I did not understand what you were saying. The vet says he sees no signs of brumation.

    Junie Moon has stopped eating

As I understand it box turtles don't need friends. They are not social at all. Does anyone out there know otherwise?

    Junie Moon has stopped eating

Yes. She was crazy about super worms. She started ignoring the worms at the same time. She lost interest in other foods.

    Junie Moon has stopped eating

I forgot to mention, humidity of her enclosure is steady at 70% to 80%. I mist her regularly. She is very close to a very large window where she gets natural sunlight. I have rotated her diet, what she's been offered— canned box turtle food, mashed berries, like strawberries, leafy greens. One...

    Junie Moon has stopped eating

My eastern box turtle, Junior Moon, has stopped eating. Eating. This has been almost a month and a half. She's seen a veterinarian who knows turtles well. Additionally, I conferred with a vet who had seen her her when I lived in another town. The first vet x-rayed her to check for egg...

Eastern Box Turtle will not eat

I am desperate here. My turtle, Junie Moon, has not eaten in over seven days. I have taken her to the vet who determined there was no infection, and she was not going into hibernation, and she was not egg bound. The vet dewormed, treated for parasites. That was last Thursday and there has been no...

All pine enclosure, how to seal?

Will do. She sees the vet twice a year. The vet and I are on the lookout. Thanks. Excellent point.

All pine enclosure, how to seal?

Junie Moon has two missing hind legs. One was severed up to her shell. The other lost approximately a third of its length. She can still use that one to help propel herself.

    Respiration and head jerking

I have an American box who this morning I noticed would jerk her head to one side or the other when something passed in front of or alongside her eyes. Also, her respiration concerns me. She's breathing very deeply, kind of bellowing her neck. Here's a video showing both behaviors. Although...

All pine enclosure, how to seal?

My wood is rough cut. What do you think? Will that be okay? Your pine looks like it's of a better cut.

All pine enclosure, how to seal?

Thank you. Everyone on this forum is very thoughtful. My thinking about the cloth was would offer a barrier between the substrate and the slick pond liner. That she would be able to get better purchase when she's moving across the enclosure. She lost two legs (the hind) and struggles a bit to...
