Little update, took the kids outside on this warm fall day to snap some shots, had to bring my fiance out as well to be a wrangler, these two love to MOVE.
And a few lil collages of their growth, these pics are 8wks apart exactly.
I have two young pancakes, both just shy of 12wks old or so. Mine are very active, and they've gotten a lot less shy of me in the few weeks that I've had them. All I've done is made sure I talk near the enclosure, especially when I put down food. So that they aren't afraid of my voice, and they...
I spray the enclosure once per day as per the advice of Tim and Robin :) I also keep 70 or so New Caledonian Geckos in my reptile room all of whom need humidity, and the current ambient humidity in the room averages around 70%. I do also spray their little caves extra, the ones they usually...
These two beauties arrived today. They were hatched by fellow forum members Tim/Robin. These are my first babies in the house since about 2008, and its mesmerizing! The kiddo with the thicker cream pattern is a real go-getter, not shy at all. Her sister is a little more reserved, but it is only...
I'm hoping to get back into the hobby, I've been poking around a bit looking for the right hatchling to acquire and just today posted a wanted thread, so we'll see how that goes :)
I raised Greek tortoises a few years ago, and I'm looking to get back into the hobby with something a little more advanced/obscure. I'm willing to consider any hatchlings as long as there is zero pyramiding present as it is my goal to raise a completely smooth CB individual of any of these...
I don't have my tortoises anymore, sadly. The trio went to friends of mine with the capabilities to give them outdoor enclosures for the summer months (as a renter, and someone who moved a lot, it was one aspect of their care I was never able to attain). I just felt like they needed more room...
I belonged to this site years ago, and was quite an active member at the time. I had a trio of three Greek tortoises, two of them I purchased from EgyptianDan; named Nigel, Anouk and Novalee? I've been going through old PM links to try and find the friends I knew from those years back, but its...
I'm excited to see new pics Terry! The parents are gorgeous, but not lacking in color at all ;) Maybe they both carry a recessive gene for blackcherries :D Is this the first dark baby from them? Or, that female?
More pics ;) What a wonderful surprise you had there Terry---its a very beautiful tortoise, definitely a unique cherry! Looks much blacker than the previous dark kids--
Yeah they mimic the mating behavior and yes, a 217g tortoise is not sexually mature.
I would weigh them, and measure tomorrow, and see what kind of a gap you have between them, and if it seems large enough, I would even consider separating them, as living together will do harm to the smaller one.
