New Western Hermann's enclosure, any feedback welcome

Hi, there are 3, about 1 year old. Humidity inside the table in open space is 72-74%, under the hides and plants it's higher. If humidity and temperature are maintained what would the reason be for needing an enclosed environment? Only the basking bulb has a slight angle, found a greater...

New Western Hermann's enclosure, any feedback welcome

Hi all, So, in the midst of building an insulated indoor closed chamber enclosure for potential Burmese star tortoise in the near future (hopefully), I decided to add a table top enclosure on top for some Western Hermann's. I had spare materials left over from the closed chamber build plus...

Western Hermann's shell texture, is this normal?

Hi, Could anybody please tell me if the rougher texture on the darker sections of these year old western hermanns shell is normal? Was sent pics from the seller, most other pics I've seen from other tortoises the shell texture appears pretty smooth. Thanks in advance.

    Hi from the UK.

Hi, yes I saw his fantastic enclosure build thread, really was something else. I noticed he wasn't active for quite some time, I think I saw a post where where he was selling up a lot of his animals, could be mistaken though. The redfoot really seem like an interesting species to keep, even...

    Hi from the UK.

My turtles are like wet puppies, swim up to you soon as they see you. The leopard gecko is very inquisitive, waits by the enclosure door to be taken out. Not the same as cats and dogs but still cute in their own way.

    Hi from the UK.

Thanks, the lighting and heating will be specific to the species as per the various care sheets I've seen on the forum. The site really is a great resource and clears up a lot of misconceptions. Greeks/Hermanni are more common, however really leaning towards the Reds or Stars (have a UK Sri...

    Hi from the UK.

Hi all, Quick introductory post. I'm based in the North of England and have been reading the forums for the past few months. I don't have a tortoise yet, still deciding on what species would be best. Currently building a 8 x 3 ft indoor closed chamber enclosure for the future tort. Looking...

Redfoot vs Burmese Stars: groups, personality & recommended UK breeders?

Thank you Tom, it was a lot of your posts on general care, species specific and also enclosure builds that has educated me on many aspects of tortoise care that I will be using going forward. It is sad that many breeders are so set in their ways and don't see the facts and data for what it...

Redfoot vs Burmese Stars: groups, personality & recommended UK breeders?

Hi all, I'm currently planning for a tortoise/s to add to my reptile family (currently have turtles ( i.e wet puppies lol), geckos, bearded dragon, frogs). Have narrowed down to redfoot/cherry head or possibly a Star (Burmese based on @Tom introduction guide to them.) As everyone else, I'm...
