I'm going to take him tomorrow to my hospital. The vet I trust there is going to take a look at him. I'm trying to avoid another $1000 bill at the specialist if possible.
We stock NeoPolyDex oint.
Question: in dogs and cats we do not prescribe steroids for corneal ulcerations because they can...
I noticed it looked puffy maybe a week ago, but then he opened the eye after a soak and I convinced myself I imagined it, so it's hard to say. Yesterday was the first day I saw it obviously swollen and irritated as pictured.
It's possible, but the surgery was months ago, the sutures were...
So Hermann's eye is swollen.
It is the eye closest to where he had the granuloma surgically excised back in March or April.
He is still acting totally normal, just swollen and squinting this eye.
I soaked him today, I already texted his vet, but they are closed until Monday unfortunately...
I kind of realized it after I posted 🤯 I got myself so worked up over absolutely nothing. Thank you. I just worry about everything now, and I always have the exotic specialists number in my back pocket, but I still haven't paid off the last visit lol, just trying to keep everything stable right...
I think i panicked lol... but yes hopefully someone could tell me if I'm being dramatic.
Ive been watching him a bit obsessively and as far as attitude he seems great. Active, eating, ravenous as always, drinking, etc.
He's just my first baby so I panic 🤯 especially after his recent surgery...
Am I being crazy or actually seeing an issue?
So I have been a nervous wreck ever since Hermanns mycobacterium infection and the surgery to remove his granuloma months ago.
He has been doing well since, and got his sutures out in late May.
He is active, eating, drinking, and generally being...
Yeah, that's definitely the goal! It will hopefully be only a month or so before the yard is open, i already started clearing it of construction debris, but it needs some more work to make it tortoise proof. It is 108×50 ft and will serve as his roaming space during the day. I am just nervous...
That is the plan, it will be done by end of summer at the latest.
I'm in the middle of building my actual house on the property and that ended up taking more time than I intended due to county inspections.
It will be done by end of summer, I'm making sure of that, because I think he'll be close...
Hello again! It finally got consistently warm enough outside to move Atlas today.
I ended up using an old wooden garden bed I built, it is around 8×8ft give or take a foot. I decided to just save the materials and money i would invest here, and put it towards his final build with his large shed...
Just wanted to show you guys how Hermann is doing. He is healing well from my perspective.
He was irritated and rubbing the incision the first two weeks or so, but that has stopped. A portion of the incision opened but we expected it to, and it has since healed up beautifully on its own...
Although I will say, it's not going to be anything fancy. It's temporary until the shed is finished, which should be end of summer.
The shed would have been completed last year if not for some unexpected financial and family happenings, but I'm glad it's finally getting done now!!!
Got the full pathology report today.
The mass is a confirmed granuloma, which formed around micobacterium.
The doctor said since there is nothing systemically, they suspect the micobacterium was introduced to a small wound or scrape, and the body protected itself by forming the granuloma...
Awesome, thanks so much.
I'll be moving him into an old raised garden bed. The shed should be completed by the end of summer, because he will definitely be too big by then, I'm already pushing it now.
