Wow, glad you were able to save it. Isolation, clean water, raise salinity, and if that doesn’t work, you can try acriflavine. Read up on it…works well will aquatic turtles.
Just candled again today. Here’s a side by side pic of a yellow one vs the orangey one (it’s the only one in this clutch that looks like this..others are yellow).
Quick question, I have been incubating some Cherry Head eggs at 80% humidity and 85 degrees in vermiculite for a little over a month. Temps are stable as I have a separate temp controller and various thermometers.
I candled them but there is no sign of life…no veins at all. They are solid...
Seems more people like regular Mazuri but the label says it’s for forest or tropical tortoises.
I have a Hermann’s would the regular Mazuri be okay or would it be better to get Mazuri LS, Low Starch?
Thx
Thanks Tom. You were a wealth of info when I was looking for them 6 months ago. I followed all your advice and have an enclosure ready. I paused my search over winter but now that spring is here, I still can’t find any. I would also think there would be a ton of Hermann’s breeders here in Cali...
I’m looking to buy a Hermann’s tortoise and I keep coming across ads that say theirs are “well started.” Why exactly does it mean and is it a big deal if tortoises are “well started?”
Ive been on the lookout for some Hermann’s but came across some some Sri Lankan Star Tortoise hatchlings...
I’m in SoCal and that’s a listing at a local animal shelter. You figure they’d know what they’re listing. Anyways, glad I asked the forum…I’ll be passing on it. Thx all
