Basically this is a new border planted in October 18, but obviously I didn't plant the weeds that have come through...I assume they came with the soil. Problem is, I have no idea if it is safe or not, any ideas?

I'm a bit worried about winter without something to keep the heat in (I know Russian's can hibernate but he never has been + has been in my care less than a year)

The Che doesn't really come on in the summer anyway as it is set on a thermometer plug with probe to only come on if the temperature at night drops below what it should
