He has a Boston fern inside his enclosure as well as one humid hide. (his water dish was being cleaned out so wasnt in the photo)...

Uneven shell growth in Hermanns tortoise

So my young hermanns tortoise Steve has seemed to be doing really well, other than one thing, his shell growth. On both sides, the scute seems to grow more to one side. Now I know for a fact that this isn’t pyramiding because he has 80-90 percent humidity 24/7. I have highlighted the humps and...

I was also wondering how I can get him to look roughly like the tortoise in this picture because it looks very healthy.

    How is Steve doing?

Hello everyone, it’s been a while and I just wanted to give an update on Steve. He has recently reached 65g which is great and he seems to be pretty active. He hasn’t been eating too much lately but I keep offering food just incase he is hungry. I have attached some photos of him for everyone to...

    Isopods?

Sorry that I am late to this page but I was wondering if there was any risk of the isopods getting stuck between the skin and shell of the tortoise. Just making sure that they are perfectly safe for my little baby hermanns.

    Steve’s skin pigment issue?

Hello again. I was just wondering about Steve‘s skin. He recently reached 50g and seems to be very healthy but I was just a bit unsure about his skin. He has a small Green spot on the head and his skin appears to be lighter in areas. I don’t know what can be causing this. I will attach a photo...

    Quick check up

Here are some more photos of his skin. I understand he still very young and his skin might just start to lighten but is this normal. I have attached more photos of his skin to show the change to the lighter grey. Thanks

    Quick check up

Yes I have noticed his colour starting to change but it is all in areas that he is shedding. He is still very young only around a month or two.

    Quick check up

Yes he is in an enclosed top environment. I made sure I got a floodlight because the spot bulbs cause pyramiding and that arrives today.

    Quick check up

Hello tortoise forum! Just wanted to check in about Steve. He looks like he is doing good and has just reached 40g! I saw some people saying that their tortoises have dry skin so I wanted to check in to make sure that he is no pyramiding and doesn’t have dry skin. I also wanted to check about...

    Mazuri tortoise diet

I saw someone online that mixed it into like a mush of some hibiscus and weeds. Is this ok? Can I mix it in with weeds and foods?

    Mazuri tortoise diet

Hey there tortoise forum! I was just going to order something I found called mazuri tortoise diet. I have seen many people use it with good results but I was wondering about the protein content. Is it too much protein and would it cause scute flaring due to the protein or is it alright? Answers...
