Dare I leave hatches open .

Thanks Sarah , yes my two are Russians and my male is more active than my female. He comes out to play a lot more than she does. I think no matter how big of an enclosure they have they still spend their time trying to get out. Looking for an escape route 🤣

Thanks do your tortoises or tortoise have the option to come outside? If so do yours prefer to stay inside more than you thought they would ?

Dare I leave hatches open .

Hi well we’re back from our six days holiday. I decided to leave hatches open and everything was fine. Our neighbour is very good and checks on them day and night and feeds them. I have never seen any foxes here even though we’re on the edge of open countryside. We do have magpies but no...

Well they can’t get out of their enclosures and the shed is under a tree so not very exposed and as the weather is hot here now there is no heat on in the shed at all. There is also more shade in the enclosures since I planted lavender and lavateria bushes.

Dare I leave hatches open .

Hi just a query to uk owners. We have lovely weather at the moment and we are going away for a week, starting on Friday. My question is I have our next door neighbour to feed and keep an eye on my two. They have a shed with hatches so I open up in a morning and close at night. To make things...

Hi I’m in the uk and we have lovely weather this week, 18 degrees which is lovely. My two Russians are in an insulated heated shed where they can please themselves if they want to go out or stay in, once I’ve opened the hatch doors. Since the nice weather I’ve had their lamps on till 10 30 and...

    Death of a good vet.

Hi I live in the uk ( north west England ) I’ve had a real shock. While trying to find out in the local paper the funeral date of a school friend I came across the death of Hannah Bould. When I first got my tortoise he was tiny and came with runny nose syndrome. I booked in at our local vets and...

    Basking bulbs

Hi yes I have domes and bulbs hang straight down they are not tilted. My two are in an insulated small shed outside , just can’t understand them not working after a short space of time. I had a professional electrician set it all up so no electrical faults.
