Recommended Calcium and Multi for Redfoot?

Has anyone used Arcadia EarthPro-A as a multivitamin and Arcadia EarthPro-CA as a calcium powder? Curious what other people here use for their tortoises. The Arcadia supplements were recommended to me over the RepCal supplements years ago but I forget why.

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

So if I'm understanding you correctly, pyramiding from 1 to 3 years old is most likely in the vertebrals and then from say 3 to 5 years old it is more likely to observe pyramiding between the marginal and lower costals? Also I wonder if as the carapace becomes more 'domed'/grows vertically if...

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has input or pictures to share regarding this scute/shell formation. My theory is that my tortoise has less "sanding" compared to a natural environment as well as his genetics. I've kept him above 90% humidity since I received him (Even for short periods...

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

Someone needs to do a 3D scan of the carapace and create a tortoise invisalign 😆

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

@Tom The godfather of humidity studies, have you seen anything like this?

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

Oh wow, I'll slowly increase the fruit regiment since I'm pretty far off the 60%. Here's some more detail on my feeding schedule: 2-3 bunches of endive, escarole, dandelion leaves, collard greens or green leaf lettuce (Rarely) per week 1 banana or a handful of mango slices every 2 weeks A couple...

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

Without getting super detailed, I can confidently say he's always been housed in a greenhouse with humidity levels above 95% and temps between 81 and 83F. For 1.5 years I did remove his Arcadia 12% (Index 1-2 on the Solarmeter 6.5) and replaced it with SurSun Mid-Day blaze LED UVB bulb. After...

Possible pyramiding between costal and marginal scutes only?

Topic: I noticed a gradual depression forming between the Costal and Marginal scutes of my 6 year old Cherryhead Tortoise. Now, I know this doesn't affect the health of the tortoise. For sake of discussion, I was curious if anyone else has observed near zero pyramiding between the Vertebral and...

Tortoise enclosure at Liberty Science Center too small overall? And too bright at night?

The lights inside the enclosure were off. But the multiple windows allowed plenty of light from outside to spill into the enclosure. The tortoises seemed to be struggling to find darkness. It would be nice if there were shades that could be pulled down to darken the enclosure each night.

Tortoise enclosure at Liberty Science Center too small overall? And too bright at night?

Hi everyone, Last night I went to Liberty Science Center's After Dark event. It's held every first and third Thursday of the month from 6PM to 10PM. My coworkers and I were having a blast when we stumbled on the tortoise exhibit. I took some photos. It appears to be way too small for the...

    Devastated.

Maybe a small device can be made and attached to the shell of a tortoise to alert an owner when he/she has flipped over. If it was cheap enough, every tortoise could have one. It could potentially be solar powered as well.

    Introducing Rocks

Yeah that would be perfect. Really you just need them to walk over it and that can be accomplished by just running it all the way across. Funny story actually, when I first added the rocks I thought he would think of it as a wall and never climb but he immediately climbed over and sat on his...

    Introducing Rocks

Very true! Another thing is smooth rocks are important. Too rough and they could damage their plastron with repeated trips over the obstacle. So smooth rocks and only having small rocks would likely work just as well.

    Introducing Rocks

Around 2 months ago I placed some big rocks in the middle of my enclosure. The original intention was to provide a way for my Cherryheads nails to trim down naturally since they seemed to be getting rather long. The rocks have worked excellent. Putting a CHE well above the rocks is a great way...
