My Russian tort has been less active during the past few weeks. Is it because of the oncoming winter and the weather getting cooler? He is an inside tort and I have read that it usual for them to be less active during the winter. Is that true? I let him out a couple of times a week. Is it ok to...
my tort loves munching on these very small leaves and purple flower that it blooms can anyone please identify it, just to make sure it's not toxic or anything .
O wow 10 to 15! Hopefully tomorrow I will have the time to change his substrate around. I think I will try straight coir. I'm going to let it dry a bit before putting it in his cage because it was quite a mess when it was wet.
I went to check on Sheldon and I noticed red splotches in his cage! I checked him to see if he was bleeding and I noticed his tail was red I looked for a cut and couldn't see any! It looked like blood with a little mix of unrates! Please help! He seems fine now but I am very concerned!
Yes the growth is what I was concerned over. It's about time to clean out his cage and replace the substrate. He has the pellets because I tried a mix of coir and play sand, but barely ate when I had it in his cage. And seemed miserable because he was covered in coir and sand all the time. Once...
I don't live by any reptile vets and I was just wondering if my torts shell is healthy. His is active and has quite an appetite he eats organic spring mix and has a UVA and UVB bulb and I soak him once a week. He is around one year old.
Thanks for the info I have already been soaking him everyday. I am asking about the Eco straw because the guy at the local pet store has been using it for his torts for 30 plus years. Is there any specific reason why I should use sphagnum moss instead if the Eco straw?
Is Eco straw a good substrate for my Russian tort? I recently discovered my mixture of play sand and coir can cause intestinal problems for my tort. Probably the reason why he hasn't eaten in a week. Any suggestions on a good substrate for my Russian tort Sheldon?
The basking side temp is in the mid 90s and the warm side is around mid 80s, is that warm enough? I will also try to add some color to his food today and see if he eats it
