Having a yard is required. During the winter having a heated tortoise house and night box is required. There are a lot of plans and examples of both in the forum. There are several members that have sulcatas in much colder parts of the country and they seem to do alright. I've also seen posts...
I own a sulcata and I live in Colorado. I think as long as you are willing to put the time, effort, and money required to plan for their future needs and space requirements having any species of tortoise isn't out of the question here in Colorado. What species of large tortoise would you like to...
I wish I had spent more time debating about my sulcata. I would have had his enclosure set up before I bought him instead of a lot of panicked scrambling to get him set up properly. I also would have got him from a different source. I agree about the personality, sulcatas are awesome.
I had the same thought when i saw the website but it seems pretty safe. There are a few people on here that have succesfully hatched tortoises from them.
Yeah I was going to get a russian from there in november but ended up spending that money on toys for my daughter. I have to buy an incubator first but thats no big deal. I`ve been wanting one anyways.
I've had iguanas, a chameleon, a box turtle, geckos, an elongated, a ball python, and a caiman.

My wife says she doesn`t...

Unfortunately Stuffy passed away in mid july. I have been putting off this post because it makes me sad to think about. Fortunately Stuffy didn`t die because of any mistake my daughter made.
My little girl was a very good tortoise mommy she always fed and soaked Stuffy. She insisted on doing...
