You guys! Look at her! The old shed has really started coming off the last couple days and I can see fresh scales! I’ve continued to soak her at least once daily, gently brush her with a toothbrush, massage her skin with coconut oil. She’s out of her shell so much more, peeing all the time (just...
What until you see them today! Other and the shell damage, the little ornate is looking really good! The gulfie female is looking a bit better, too. :)
Is it possible to change the name of this thread? My focus now is getting rehab advice.
Would these two benefit from iodine or any of the anti-fungal suggestions in the rescue tortoise thread?
Got them home and soaked tonight. Scrubbed them lightly with a toothbrush and then massaged them with a bit of coconut oil. I definitely agree that the little one is an ornate. You can see the yellow spots on it's legs now that it's had a bath. The last picture is on what little tail the bigger...
All the extra crustiness, does it just look like stuck shed from bad husbandry or does it look fungal? When I got them home and into the bath this evening, they smelled so bad. I was able to trim the little feisty one. I also massaged them with a little coconut oil.
The vet just looked at them and said he thinks their condition is primarily from bad husbandry and MBD associated with it. They are not in great condition for him to trim them or do anything further at this time so I am to take them home, keep them quarantined from my other tortoises and see...
I made separate posts for each one. The vet is about an hour and a half from home so I have to take them there before I'll get home to soak them. If any trained eyes recognize anything, I can make sure I address it with the vet this afternoon. Thanks so much!
This is the littler, much more active, dominant one. Is it a 3 toed? I think I saw more than 3 toes but I'm not sure that any others have that distinctive round shell?
