I agree with Tom, don't waste your time with the rebar. I put a lot of time and effort into doing that with my first fence and then he never once tried to dig out. My new fence has spots where it is an inch or two above the ground because I haven't got around to leveling out the dirt and he...
I had one named Vito. I do miss him. He had the best personality. But they can have a lot of health problems, my old vet used to call them the money makers. I'm sure I will get another one some day.
I bought a male sulcata there 2 years ago. I am a couple hours north of there so I was able to drive down to pick one out. The owner Sam was really nice and took time to show us all his animals. You can tell he is really into it and it is not just a business for him. He said to contact him...
Where I am in Florida we have had a couple nights in the 40s but not much lower. During the day it has been getting between 60 to 80 so mine still comes out for the sun. He is about 40 lbs and his shed never gets below the 70s.
It was early this morning so I didn't think I would see any gophers but then I found this one on his way out for the morning.
And I also came across this Florida box turtle.
Some other random burrows with no one out yet.
Here in Florida I probably help a gopher get across the road at least once a month. Its nice to see so many other people doing the same thing, usually by the time I turn around someone else is already stopping to help. Maybe people just like an excuse to be able to pick one up. :D
Lol. Definitely worth reading. Whether you get his sense of humor or not, or whether you like his use of language, I can't imagine why anyone on this forum would give this guy a hard time. How many non-tortoise keeping people do you know who would go this far to take in an animal who is...
I was just wondering if it's something I need to be worried about, I am afraid it could be something that would spread and the whole scute could come off.
What would cause this this? I just noticed yesterday a seperation in the shell along a growth line that is probably more than a year old. It is the only spot like this on his shell. It is separated just enough to slide my fingernail under it.
Wow, bike talk on a tort fourm. My two favorite things. I can't believe someone else has those same two random hobbies. I just got a new road bike, a trek 2.1, since my last one was stolen out of my garage.
The burrow I started myself back when I got him to hopefully keep him from digging elsewhere. So far it has worked. It originally started as just a garbage can on its side half buried to keep him from going deeper. My thought was that if he had a cool place to go, he wouldn't dig on his own...
