It motorized. We have a very small runway nearby mostly for crop dusters but 1 guy with 1 plane runs a private school he flies overhead daily like "5oclock charlie" from MASH. At a certain point he turns off the engine forcing the student to do a flying restart. But this guy sounded very different. I thought it was a boat on the river at first!

On a recent rescue I witnessed a parachute fall from the sky ..... with a man attached, on the 395 outside Bishop,CA . I turned around and was amazed ..... no motor just a dude and his parachute. He had launched from crowder lake 135 miles away 11 1/2 hours prior and spent all day over the Mammoth to Owens Lake corridor from a birds eye view, a really big bird. My first thought as I got out of the van? Is he wearing a diaper? It was real overload for the first 20 seconds let me tell ya.

Always amazes me that 'What' they are trusting all comes down to a thread stitching ..... a small little thread.

That guy is living gotta give em that.

I often thought I would enjoy flying without a plane but after trying hang gliding on the foothills of Co 50 some yrs ago I realized my place is on terra firma! I didn't make 50' off the ground before i bailed and ditched. I learned a valuable lesson. Superman doesn't need to fly! LOL

Not new, probably 30-35 year old tech. We have never seen one here. We have a lot of Ultralights since its flat farmland but never saw a motorized kite here.
James Bond used one...a snow version.
