Your neighbors have another male? That may be the source of his ire. Males sometimes get super territorial, and more so after brumation, and even more so in spring and summer.
They just got him in the last month or so. I actually went to go see him and I brought my guy with me (safely inside a box the entire time). I wanted to compare the size difference and to know how big I can expect him to become but now I'm thinking I could have frightened him by doing that. Definitely something else to consider!

Sooo my tortoise has a little frog statue, and he “loves” it very much if you know what I mean. 😉
That's a cheap and affective substitue! And kids free life! On that note, there is an unhealthy amount of YouTube shorts of torts and shoes... In case you haven't seen the most loved crocs in town 😂

Great, I just wasted my hard learned Italiano on an Irish! lol

Well, if that's the case... the Little Fella just wants more estate! Plain and simple. However, both of you need to stay hydrated and cool in this hot summer.
Yes, that is what I'm thinking . . . they typically do not wander in circles . . they are explorers . . .when you hit the waters edge . . . you build a boat! My Leopard Tort, wanders my big back yard, in the evening when I go to retrieve him, guess where he is . . .at the fence line, looking for greener pastures.

Could it be that his patrolling has become more intense since then because he knows there is another dude out there? Just a thought. Males can be very territorial.
