    New 2 month old baby

Thanks for this answer. I have already been removing some moldy hay from the enclosure- but I think the issue is over. Little She-ra is doing well, but I still don't see her eat a whole lot. I do think she may be munching covertly, as the soaked Zoomed pellets seem to be decreasing, and I see...

Does anyone ever have a cage mold problem with the humidity?

I pretty much bought all of the wrong stuff for heat and light! I could have saved so much cash with this one bulb and light :/ when I purchase it, I will have three lamps, and three bulbs without function. I should have joined this forum, instead of reading a bunch of "care sheets" and...

My bulb isn't "coiled," but I think it's incorrect. There is a photo in this feed.

It's in the high 80's in her basking spot. I'd like to see 90s, right? I'm so worried about her bulbs being too bright, and hurting her tiny eyes. Unrelated side note- her "stink eye" expression is just killing me, in a good way. She looks so crabby!

That's super helpful. Now I know better what to watch for. I doused her whole enclosure today, and I will wrap the enclosure in plastic when I get home from work. Hopefully, that will help with her heat, too. I'd like to get it warmer and am waiting for delivery of her ceramic bulb.

I looked through many pages, but I am still not seeing a side by side comparison. My concern, of course, is that someone said my girl was pyramiding, but I am seeing a smooth shell. Maybe I'm missing something...

I know! I graduated in '97! Crazy to think it was that long ago, though.

Can anyone post a photo of a 2 month old pyrimiding vs non pyramiding? I am finding a lot of photos of older torts, where it's obvious, but what am I watching for at this age?

    New 2 month old baby

I got a laugh just now... I looked at my profile, which says I'm 17... I'm 35! Apparently, my birth year is unchangeable, too... '79 vs '97 is easily mistyped when you're in a hurry, I guess. Anyway, I wanted to mention that, as I work in vet med and I know it can change a person's outlook...

She's doing extremely well this morning- motoring around her cage and checking things out. I've seen her drink- now, I am hoping to see her eat. I'm feeling pretty confident today, with her activity level and tiny attitude.

A LOT smaller- I don't remember the exact size, but it's bigger than 5 gallons, smaller than 10! I wish I would have known- I could have gotten a glass enclosure for a lot cheaper. The one I have is an old aquarium.

I will get a mercury vapor bulb. The enclosure I have is open. It's actually a gigantic guinea pig cage with plastic skirt about 4 1/2" around the bottom so she can't see out. I also have a glass enclosure I could use, but I have heard it's too hard to regulate the temp for basking vs hiding...

Thanks so much for the reply. The UVB bulb is not coiled like that, but I'm having a hard time describing it! I will take a picture... Humidity is about 50 percent in the basking area. Substrate in the rest of the enclosure is newspaper, with some aspen bedding (will probably get rid of...

    New 2 month old baby

Hi everyone. I just received a beautiful, tiny, 2 month old sulcata tortoise. She was shipped from Florida to Minnesota Fed Ex overnight. I've soaked her twice, for 20 minutes, and have offered food, but she is mainly sleeping. she has a humid hide, with damp cypress mulch, hay, and newspaper...
