    Making my yard tortoise friendly

Thanks everyone, but I don't think you understand how much wood sorrel I have. The night shade could possibly be pulled, but the wood sorrel is down to the ground and mixed in to the grass. I just don't want to screw her up. Is there anything natural that I could use to kill the weeds, but that...

    Making my yard tortoise friendly

Hello! I currently have a 1 year old sulcata that goes outside for several hours a day in an enclosure. As she gets bigger, I want to give her the run of the fenced in yard, but I have a lot of night shade and wood sorrel that I read are not good for tortoises. I am willing to replant my whole...

    Is this pyramiding?

I use a digital wireless device for humidity and it reads temp also. I have my heat lamps set on a thermostat at 81 degrees (ambient) and the probe for that is in the coolest area and no MVB bulbs

    Is this pyramiding?

Ambient temp is 81 during the day and 79 at night. Basking bulb is just a flood lamp as you recommended in sulcata care sheet. Basking spot with temp gun is 95-98 degrees. Humidity ranges from 80-84%. I soak daily and use a mixture of coco choir and cypress mulch for substrate.

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

I can recheck the bill, but I don’t think it was listed. I will definitely ask again when I talk to him on Monday. Unfortunately it was just the edges that were green when I brought her home. It seems the green is taking over. I just pray I didn’t make the wrong choice in trying to save her and...

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

So this is where we are at now. I’m not sure what he closed it with, but I can only assume the green is pus.🤢 I will contact vet on Monday to see what the heck is going on. The sealant feels like a rubber cement texture. It’s smooth and shiny over the entire wound, green included. Good news is...

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

I took her to Dayton Williams and he did indeed seal her up. She came home today and went HAM on her grass and dandelion greens after a good soak. She will receive antibiotic injections daily for a total of 4 weeks. She’s moving and acting her normal self. I hope all remains well with her.

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

It was the vet tech who gave me bunk info on the sex of the tort. The vet himself wasn’t around when she said this or I would have asked his opinion and r It was the vet tech who made the comment so I dont put too much stock in it. The vet was not around or I would have asked his opinion. He is...

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

I had to laugh when I took her to the vet and they kindly informed me she was a he. She is 5 months old, but the vet tech said because her plastron was slightly concave, it’s a little boy. I told her I study the tort forums and there would be many tort experts that would disagree with her...

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

Thank you everyone for your kind responses and advice. I’m headed to show up on the vet’s door step now as I still am unable to reach him by phone. My heart is so very broken. I thought I was taking the right precautions and then you factor kids in to the scenario. Bless their hearts, they are...

    Dog attacked baby sulcata. Help!

I work nights and it happened after I went to work. I had my husband wrap it in press n seal to keep substrate out until I can get home and tend to her. Is she in terrible pain? Do people put torts down for this kind of damage? Heaven knows that is NOT the way I want to go, but the wound looks...
