Hi, I'm looking for some advice on my hermann's shell health. Today I was cleaning around her tail because some poop had gotten stuck, and I noticed the shell in that area felt a little bit soft. When I pressed on that area of her shell, it felt like it gave way slightly under the light...
I really like this idea! The bottom part doesn't have bark all around and so it's less grippy, so burying that part would make it safer I think. But I hadn't thought of scooping out enough to let her still be able to walk under it. Thanks!
Don't worry, she was supervised the entire time I saw her up there and I made sure I saw her get down safely! I didn't think she'd learn to scale it so fast, but since I'm off work for the holidays I have plenty of time to keep an eye on her and make sure she's confident. And when I'm not here...
She's a 6 month old Hermanns and she's settled in so well already, it's been so fun watching her stomp about and getting to know her. I couldn't have asked for a better start with her so far and I'm so excited to finally have a tortoise of my own!!
