    T8 Bulbs & Housing

Excellent, thank you very much. I'll get on this! How do you suspend yours? Chains and a pole, or drilled into a wooden suspending bracket? But, is this an option if I'm dealing with a yearling? Another poster mentioned not using an open table at this age due to humidity regulation, so how does...

    T8 Bulbs & Housing

Hey Alex, So the issue here is I actually have no way of supplying power to the pins! I also need to suspend it, which is impossible with the Arcadia controller sets as I want a batten of sorts! Arcadia sell T5 full kits but not T8 full kits for some reason! I didn't think you were supposed to...

    T8 Bulbs & Housing

Ahh, I read T8s were good, that's a shame. I'll return these then because there are T5 kits that actually include the light fixture in the kit, as with my T8 the issue is I can't plug it in at the moment as I have no housing for it! I'm no good at metric/imperial translation sorry! I will find...

    T8 Bulbs & Housing

Hey guys, Thanks for your help last time! I'd like help working out how to suspend/mount/hold the Arcadia T8 18" 15w 12% D3 fluorescent bulb I've purchased, with an 18" Arcadia reflector. From spending ages reading multiple forum posts here, blogs and product pages, I still can't figure out...

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Thank you so much. I will, I am a little bewildered by the whole strip lamp UV/heating situation vs spot lamp, but I'll do some research and come back to you guys when I have any questions, I don't want to take advantage of your knowledge without doing my own due diligence as well. Separating...

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Update! Took him to a Tortoise Table recommended local vet. She looked them over, their tongue was a bit pale, the shell a bit too soft, potential fungal or bacterial infection on his tummy due to an injury. So, 2 swabs have been sent off. Flushed shell slightly too. Been given some Reptoboost...

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Thank goodness. You're stars, you replied so quickly! Thank you. There were a few tortoise "success stories" following surgeries at their practice on their website, but before visiting I'll call and enquire about specific expertise with little Eastern Hermann's. I do not want a standard vet...

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Whilst bathing them I double checked the healthy one, and either I'm being paranoid but this doesn't seem right? I am new to this so I may be fretting. Please let me know if you see anything untoward. The discolouration, the white lines and the brown marks all concern me. Thank you again.

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

No, I wouldn't - they're completely different creatures. The vet is a specialist exotic vet with reptile expertise, not just a dog/cat/bunny person. :)

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

I also would please like to ask your opinions on the bottom half of his shell, the fading in the corners don't look even, is this natural? I've googled it but I am not getting much luck finding about the natural progression of the underside shell growth and discolouration issues.

That doesn't sound healthy or like anything we want to happen! Thanks for the research on the orangeness, finding straight facts about it has been hard.

My goodness, that is something we will address ASAP. This was advice from the people we purchased them from too, so that's a bit worrying...thanks for the heads up guys.

This sounds very plausible, what does sloughing off mean?

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Hello everyone, thank you very much for your responses and your expertise. We may err on the side of caution and take them to see a specialist vet to nip this in the bud, I am a first time tortoise owner, and many of these advisable treatments I wouldn't administer myself. I've not used any...

Worried: Orange Spot - Underside of shell

Hello there, This is my first time posting, I'm from the U.K and the proud owner of 2 little Eastern Hermann Tortoises, less than a year old. They've been doing great, eating well, sleeping appropriately, engaging in activities, being explorative and just being lively. I know they are still...
