Im not an expert but he will need at least a 40gal tank. he also needs a place to crawl out of the water to bask, which will need a uva/uvb heat lamp above it. The best thing to feed it is commercial turtle pellets which are very cheap and are available at walmart. www.Austinsturtlepage.com...
I've seen some like that before, but I don't know the real name of them.
It might be a good idea to get his/her habitat sprayed with insect killer just in case. a spray that isn't toxic to tortoises of course.
I've had my little squirtle for about 6 months and he is estimated to be about 10 months to 1 year old. He is 2 1/2 inches in carapace length. His shell is kind of pyramid shaped at the top but i heard that it is normal for musk turtles to look like that at his age. All the other parts of him...
Today while walking around doing my normal thing, I saw what i thought was a
Box turtle. I now know that it is an Eastern Mud Turtle. I set it in a bowl of water so that he can open up and i can see him better. I am going to release him at a pond in the woods near my house. He looks very...
I know how to take care of them and everything, I was just making sure i had all the stuff so i could make a list.
I will be getting a hatchling or young juvenile. :)
I will eventually buy a russian tortoise but for now i am focusing on things i need to buy for one. Can anyone name all the things i need for a russian tortoise? I have heard of some basic things i need to buy but I need to make sure i am getting all the things he/she will need so if anyone...
Yes! I've decided to get a russian tortoise! I know how to take care of one too! but im a little confused on the space it needs. I've heard that a 4x4 habitat is big enough for an adult russian, is this true?
I will have an outdoor enclosure but I cannot keep him/her outdoor all the time because I live in the country part of Louisiana and there are ALOT of critters and stray animals that I am afraid would chew through any fence/wire I use to cover his outdoor habitat. If I did keep him outside then I...
I currently own a musk turtle and an RES but I've been studying a bit on tortoises and I've decided that i want one. I want a tortoise that is very small being that I don't want to have a giant enclosure, but I also want a tortoise that is decently easy to care for. I am mostly concerned with...
