How does everyone keep & feed their radiated?

Hi, As the title suggests, I was just wondering if people could share info on/post pictures of their radiated setups... particularly those that are unlucky enough to live in a climate (like me in the U.K) where they have to be kept indoors a lot...! Also, what do people feed their radiated...

Hi all, Just wanted to share my new radiated baby with you all!! Been on my wish list for ages, and now I finally have the little guy (or likely, gal!). She came home with me on Sunday, and has been doing great since.... What surprises me is how bold she is! My Indian star was the same...

    Sheldon at nearly 2yo

Hi all!! Sheldon has grown quite a bit, he is now 250 grams, compared to 32 grams when I got him! This is him enjoying a hibiscus flower... one of his favourite foods....that and dandelion or pansy flowers! He's been going outside quite a bit too, since we are having a rare heatwave here, its...

    Time for an upgrade.....

Hi all, Soo haven't posted on here in ages... but thought I would share Sheldon's house move with you! He is an indian star tortoise, that I have had for nearly 2 yrs now, having got him when he was barely 2 months old. He has always lived in a wooden viv, but I'm now upgrading him to a custom...

    An update on Sheldon....

Hi all, from the surprisingly sunny UK! Haven't been on here on a while, thought I'd just let you know that my indian star sheldon seems to be doing well.... at least I think so anyway!! He was 32g when I got him end of October, and is now 70g. Seems quite slow but I know they all grow at...

    Humid hide issues!!

Hi all! I just changed the 75watt reptile radiator for a 200 watt ceramic heat emitter, on a pulse proportional thermostat, to maintain ambient temps in my indian star baby's viv. This is doing a much better job! I use a 75watt halogen as a basking spot. Problem is my humid hide... It's...

    Star temperature and humidity

Just wandering what temps and humidity other people keep their stars at. My little Sheldon (see previous post) has a basking spot of around 33-35C, warm end 28-30C and cool end 23-24C, night time temperatures around 25C, lowest is 23.5C in the very corner farthest from my reptile radiator...

    Basking lamp stat probe

This may have been asked before..... but of those who use a dimming stat on their basking lamps like I am... where do you put the probe? At the moment I'm testing, and have it on the side of the viv in line with the lamp, at floor level. If I set it to 28c, I get a temp of about 35-36 directly...

    Dimmed basking spot

Evening (here anyway!) to everyone! I am in the process of setting up my stars vivarium. I have a 75watt arcadia halogen spot, and the 5.5" clamp lamp, and a habistat dimming thermostat to control this. However, having been fiddling with the bulb for ages..... At about 15" high, at full...

    Yet another substrate post...

Hi everyone :) So I am getting my first tortoise, an indian star, in about 3-4 weeks now!! Ridiculously excited!! However, i am going around in circles thinking about the best substrate. I am torn between different combinations of sterilised top soil, cypress mulch and fir bark. I don't...
